OCEAPRO was the first production company to supply its own professional Japanese NTSC filming equipment and crew in Australia in 1996. This led to include filming coordination, research and TV program planning services.
In 1999, OCEAPRO organised Australia’s first high definition live broadcast to Japan by request from NHK, Japan’s national broadcaster, which innovated high definition technology. In this project, there were 41 Japanese crew and the same number of the local crew who worked together on an island in the Great Barrier Reef to broadcast the moment of the mass coral spawning. Seven cargo planes and one cargo ship were chartered to transport all the equipment to set up a main control room and satellite dish to send the live image direct to the Japanese audience. Four months was spent on this project including pre-filming. Its success proved the high level of OCEAPRO’s engineering and coordination skills.
OCEAPRO is very proud of its strong research capabilities which enables us to coordinate many wildlife documentaries with NHK and other TV stations in Japan or even with the ABC, Australia’s national TV station. We are also regularly involved in many ecological, medical and, science documentaries, thus establishing OCEAPRO’s reputation as a top-class documentary maker.
In addition, we have worked on many popular lifestyle documentaries and have introduced many unique lifestyles of Australian people. We have taken part in adventures such as traveling across Australia (Melbourne – Darwin) by hot air balloon, numerous tourism oriented programs as well as educational and news programs.
OCEAPRO has also played an important role in the innovation of recent filming technology. Apart from the success of the high definition live broadcasting, we filmed the demo reel for the world’s first vertical plasma display monitor and also the technical test footage for the first high definition progressive format broadcasting. We filmed the demo footage for the latest HD-DVD. OCEAPRO’s reputation of superb engineering skills is seen through these activities and performances.
OCEAPRO can arrange TV & video filming in Japan. We can research topics, make presentations (pitch), coordinate filming and/or film in Japan for Australian/overseas TV stations and productions.
